Owl trend everywhere

For the past few months (?), for whatever reason, owls have been popping up all over the place on various platforms that sell craft patterns—including here at crazypatterns. As hats, stuffed animals, on scarves, blankets, and so on.

What was—or is—the reason for this ubiquitous owl trend?
Did someone start it at some point and then everyone else thought it was cute too? Or is there an owl in a movie out right now that I somehow just missed?

Can someone please explain this to me? It feels like I’ve missed out on something.

It’s probably symbolic—in solidarity with Greece: carrying owls to Athens! ;-)

But it’s true—everywhere you look, you see owls. That was already a trend quite a few years ago, though... And in fashion, everything comes back around sooner or later.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing at all in the shop on the topic of rabbits or bunnies. But that would be really cute.
