Dear users, dear authors,
how are you? What are you up to? Is everything going well?
Who’s bought some yarn? Who’s working on a nice project?
Who’s already found some time for crafts today?
Who’d like to have more time for crafts?
Tell me all about it. :-)
I’ve made it through my first 3.5 weeks as a mom. Anton is the most amazing baby ever. He sleeps a lot and cries very little. Still, today was the first time I’ve picked up my crochet hook. I just didn’t have time before that. I just had to look at Anton, after all.
And now I’m crocheting a blanket for him. I’ve only made 3 so far :-)
Oh, Arni, is there a better reason to stay away from crocheting?
And I can reassure you—a little one like that can never have enough blankets.
I still have a few minutes myself, then I’m heading home. My little guy is already waiting there with his math homework; he’s already finished the rest with my husband. He’s also studying for geography.
But tonight I want to finish the hat for my friend.
Tomorrow I have the whole day off. I’m taking my mother-in-law to the hospital. She has a few tests and doesn’t feel comfortable going alone. She’s 83 and can’t find all the exam rooms anymore—but it’s also a huge complex spread across several buildings.
I’ll bring the crochet shawl I’m making for my mom with me. I hope I can sit outside somewhere in the park for a little while.
I’m working on my UFO—I still don’t have a brilliant idea for how to put it all together into something sensible.
Other than that, I’ll probably open up my box again (I packed all my unfinished projects in there because I didn’t feel like finishing anything) and at least take one of my started projects out again.
I’m actually doing pretty well. I have a bit of a cold, and my oldest
had a stomach bug earlier this week.
I haven’t bought any yarn because I’m participating in the Wollkaiserin project and
want to use up my stash.
I started a table runner for Christmas the day before yesterday, and I finished my
sweater last week and Konrad Kürbis the day before yesterday.
This morning I’ve already spent 10 min. ;-) crocheting on my table runner.
I’d love to have more time to crochet. But with a full-time job, two kids, and
a husband, I have to be content with the time I have.
My best friend came to visit me yesterday. Unfortunately, that happens far too rarely, but it was really nice.
Since I’m still hoping for the “Wool Queen” title, I didn’t buy anything new and am continuing to diligently reduce my stash. On the side, I’m also doing “a little housework” *laughs*
In addition to finishing up my chosen UFO, I’m continuing to work on adding to my Christmas decorations to match the poinsettia pot.
Since it’s really summery here in the afternoons right now, I’m taking advantage of this time to do some needlework in the garden.
Dear Arni, a little angel like your Anton is something special. Everything else takes a back seat for now. He’ll grow up faster than you might think right now. That’s why every moment you spend mindfully with him is so precious. I wish you lots of joy with him.
To everyone who’s not feeling their best right now, I wish you a speedy recovery. Enjoy the downtime too sometimes — it can do you a lot of good. :-)
Oh, and there’s so much to do… I couldn’t knit a single stitch yesterday… just now I’ve posted in a few threads, and now it’s back to answering emails, processing orders, bookkeeping, and a few personal things…
Right now, I’m pretty much at my limit. I hope things will get better next week. Then I’m really looking forward to finishing my kids’ cardigan :-)
I can’t crochet as much as I’d like yet because I’m worried that the tendonitis I just managed to avoid might flare up after all…
But I can’t go completely without it…
A little while ago, I used half an hour of the baby’s afternoon nap to start an idea I’d been thinking about for days—but then I stopped and actually slept for an hour with the baby (the last few nights with the two little ones weren’t great, and today it really got to me…well, now I feel back on my feet :) and am using the last few minutes of the baby’s nap to write this post).
In a minute, I’m going to quickly finish typing up the last few sentences of a pattern before I pick up the second-youngest from preschool.
And then I’ll drive into town, hand the second-youngest over to the oldest, and meet up (with the baby—she can’t go without Mommy yet—but Mommy can’t go without the baby either *love*) with my three friends, with whom I go out to eat more or less regularly every few weeks.
So my crafts will have to wait for the rest of the day...
Of course, I haven’t bought any yarn yet... after all, I want a new little crown *laughs*
With all the activities outside the house and computer problems (they eat up far too much time that could be used more creatively!) and the gorgeous fall weather, I'm not getting enough time for crafting at the moment; plus I was away on a city trip for a week… At least I crocheted a few centimeters on the train today, and this evening my Drachenstrahl should grow by a few more little points—I’m so curious to see what the finished piece will look like, since I’ve never worked with a Bobbel before.
Mowi19: thank you so much
Iglinz: if my husband doesn’t stop me, it could happen. :-))) My husband thinks most of the things are awful, but I don’t care. It’s enough that I like them, and Anton can’t object yet
@Arni: Don’t let it throw you off. The time will come soon enough when Anton doesn’t want to wear handmade things anymore!
Things are so-so for me. My computer was broken, but I got it back today and was able to upload a pattern. Other than that, I’m not feeling very motivated right now. I’m afraid I’m coming down with the flu. But I definitely want to finish embroidering my napkins this week so I can take part in the UFO Queen.
Hi Ruth: Get well soon, and good luck with your repaired computer. Unfortunately, mine is beyond repair—it’s almost ten years old—and right now I’m working in short bursts until it crashes again! I’ve ordered a new one, and hopefully it’ll last another ten years!
Well, mine was “only” four years old, but the hard drive was broken and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, I hadn’t backed up the data in a while, so I had to have data recovery done. That takes time and costs money. (My own fault.) But now it’s working again.
