The Story of the Magic Knitting Needles (Interactive)

Once upon a time, there were two knitting needles. These knitting needles had magical powers...

and were much better than the hard-working little elves. :-)

Each morning, the amazement was enormous, because...

The hardworking little elves lay on their sides, exhausted and snoring, while the magic knitting needles were still clacking away.

The clattering grew louder and faster. On the magic knitting needles there was.......

a gorgeous sweater for...

...the whole family! Yes, only the magic knitting needles could perform such a miracle!
How on earth was that possible?

This was possible because the magic knitting needles were secretly listening.
That’s how they heard that she wished for fabulous sweaters.

Yes, these magical needles also had the ability to pick up on the thoughts of every single member of the family and act on them right away.

Little Elisa really wanted a purple fluffy-yarn crochet piece with a unicorn on it, while her brother Jan, on the other hand....

a fire-breathing dinosaur with purple ears, and then there was Marie, the baby of the family...

...who wished for nothing more than a sweater that didn’t itch and looked like it was store-bought.

However, despite all the magical abilities these needles possessed, there was one thing they couldn’t do: go to the store and buy the right kind of yarn.

But suddenly, the little elves woke up
and had the following idea.....

They went to the sheep they had ridden here on, began shearing them, and spun the wool for the magic knitting needles.

The knitting needles clattered happily and pounced on the wool they had acquired that way. They were not only magical, but also addicted to wool.

One day... a magical crochet hook suddenly joined them, appearing as if out of nowhere. What a joy! Now things could really get started. :-)

The unicorn for little Elisa was crocheted in no time, and now guess what a cry of joy Elisa let out when she saw it!

Because the unicorn hopped off the purple fuzzy sweater and began to speak:

"Hi, Elisa, what other wish can I grant you? You see, I'm a magic unicorn."

Little Elisa had only one wish: to ride the beautiful unicorn. But where should the journey take her?

To Cloud Cuckoo Land, perhaps? Or to Pappenheim to visit the Pappenheimers? Or to the land of milk and honey? It’s not so easy to decide!

Elisa decides to go on a ride to see Santa Claus, but the route is a secret, and that’s why...........

...the unicorn told her to close her eyes very tightly. “You mustn’t open them or even blink during the ride, or else...”

I’ll disappear never to be seen again, and then you’ll have to figure out how to get back home!

That’s what Elisa promised. She sat down on the unicorn’s back, closed her eyes tight, shouted, “Giddy-up!” and in an instant, the two of them were flying high through the clouds.

She could feel it getting colder and colder the closer they got to the North Pole, and she was very curious to see what it looked like there, but she bravely kept her eyes closed.

so they couldn’t be far now, since they’d already been flying for quite a while.
Suddenly, there was a slight jolt, and they landed. Elisa was allowed to open her eyes again, but what
she saw then... left her utterly amazed...

and plopped into the snow. And how was she going to get to Santa and his elves now?

In front of her stood something that, at first glance, looked like a huge wall of snow and ice.

The snowflakes and ice crystals sparkled in the darkness, illuminated by the stars in the cloudless sky.

Elisa stood there with her mouth agape in amazement. She had never seen anything so beautiful. She cautiously reached out her hand toward them when a small door opened and an even smaller elf stepped out.

He said, “Welcome, Elisa! We’ve been expecting you. Come right in.”

“But how?” asked Elisa. The door didn’t even reach her knees.

The elf smiled. Then...

...he gave her a small, sparkling magnifying glass. “Look through it,” he said, “it makes everything bigger.”
Elisa looked through the magnifying glass, and sure enough, the door was now big enough for her to go through.
She quickly slipped through the door and looked around curiously.

What she saw there made her squeal with joy. :-)
So many little elves greeted her.
And they all had a gift for Elisa that she never would have expected.....

... Elisa got to help Santa and the elves with the preparations for Christmas!
First, they went to Santa’s post office, where all the children’s wish lists arrived.

Since Santa had just misplaced his glasses, she was allowed to read the wish lists to him.
