Is crafting an expensive hobby?

Do you actually think that crafts are an expensive hobby, with all the yarn and supplies? Or does it not seem that expensive because you buy things little by little instead of all at once?

Hi. Hmm, it depends. Well, I spend about 600 euros a year on yarn and supplies. If you spread that out over the year, that’s about 50 euros a month. For some people, that’s a lot; for others, it’s not much. It’s a matter of perspective. Best, Nicole

Of course, yarn and supplies cost money, but you end up with a tangible result—like a scarf or gloves that keep you warm.
So it’s money well spent.

“Expensive” is relative. If you add up what you spend on crocheting and knitting over the course of several months, it really adds up. But what hobby costs absolutely no money? Unless, of course, you count window shopping without buying anything as a hobby. ;-)

It depends on what kind of yarn or other supplies you can afford. You shouldn’t factor in the time—it is a hobby, after all.
I have some yarn that was expensive at the time, but I still have that sweater today, and looking back over the years, it actually worked out to be quite affordable.
I like to buy yarn when it’s on sale at the change of seasons, but the downside is the limited selection.

To me, 7 euros for 100 grams of yarn is definitely too expensive, but that’s up to each person to decide for themselves.
