Tips and Tricks

I was just rummaging through my UFO pile and came up with something that might interest you.

When I knit openwork patterns, I trace them out again in a larger size. -
( Unfortunately, my new printer can’t enlarge them anymore ) Then I color-code each pattern stitch, which makes it easier to knit.

To help you understand what I mean, I’m including some pictures.
What do you think of my idea? Do you have any tricks like this that make knitting or crocheting easier?

Great idea! Thanks for sharing, dear Marion. :-)

Best wishes from Monika

Since I kept having trouble with the beginning and end of rows while crocheting the PANIC dishcloth with bobbles, I traced them in the crochet chart—using green for one row and red for the other.
For pattern repeats with multiple rows or rounds, a board with a magnetic ruler helps me.

I prefer to knit and crochet from knitting and crochet charts, so I take the time to convert the written pattern into symbols, especially when the individual rows or rounds are very long.
