@Buyers and interested users - what information do you need about patterns?

Hello to all buyers and interested users,
I’d like to know, in general, what information you need or would like to have. I’d find it really nice and helpful if you could tell me a bit about that.

do you prefer browsing on Facebook or directly in the shop?
Do you prefer getting inspiration on Facebook through the images and links, and click on Facebook when you see something you like, or do you go straight to the shop and browse through the categories there? Or a mix of both?

Search specifically or browse and get ideas?
When you’re in the shop, do you tend to search for something specific, e.g. a pattern for scarves, or do you rather look to see what’s new/interesting?

Which criteria are decisive for you when it comes to buying a pattern?
Photos? Price? Description? Difficulty level? Material? Other criteria?

Advertising threads in the commission marketplace
Do you read them? Have you already found anything interesting there? https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/forum/thread/8/empfehlungen

Blog - what topics would you like to see on the blog?

What do you need, what would you like to have?

I’d just like to know what’s currently on your mind, the buyers and interested users, and what’s important to you.
After all, we want to keep getting better for you.

What do you do with that information, if I may ask?

Hello everyone, even though the post is older, it’s still always relevant.

Regarding 1 - I browse here right away, and if I see patterns from other providers, I first check here to see whether I can buy them here.

Regarding 2 - sometimes I really enjoy browsing, but I also search specifically for patterns. And there are already two problems with that:

- when browsing, I’d like to look page by page to see what nice things there are. Unfortunately, when paging through, I can’t         see how many pages there are. At (no idea) page 15, I give up. In any case, I don’t want to click through 56874864641 pages (since I don’t know how many there actually are). I also can’t start browsing from the last page - unfortunately that option doesn’t exist here. So many patterns are surely not found and can no longer be bought.

- when searching, I like to enter search terms. I search for a bear - a few are shown to me. Unfortunately, the bears are also called little bear, teddy, teddy bear, cuddly bear, Pupsi, little bear, Brummi, Bäli, shaggy bear (just as examples) and therefore aren’t found. Maybe you could add a line as a heading in the "listing form" where bear or car or flower or basket or something similar should be entered. In the description, you can of course use cute little names - I really like doing that too.

Regarding 3 - First of all, a picture appeals to me - if it’s great, I buy more quickly. Secondly, the price is interesting; if it’s too high, I don’t buy.

- The description is very important to me. Above all, I’m interested in the size of the items and perhaps the material requirements. Unfortunately, they are very often missing (maybe that would also be something for the "listing form"

Regarding 4 - I really like looking at the promotional threads in the request board

I would like to be able to save purchased patterns here; I tend to buy duplicates if I can’t check whether I haven’t already bought them. Just like you can view orders later in other shops. If I reviewed patterns, the purchased ones would surely disappear under "Account / Reviews" - I find that a real shame. Under "Account / Downloads" the patterns gradually disappear - right?

Best wishes - Gabi :-)

I’d like to pick up on Gabi’s suggestions—having fields for materials and approximate size when uploading would be great! Because, unfortunately, I forget to include that far too often myself. If I have a designated section for it, I’m more likely to remember.

I’d also like to know from those interested what the maximum price for a pattern can be for it to still be appealing to them.

For me, it’s often not clear which technique was used.
With some projects, it’s really hard to tell from the photo.

Maybe you could mark it with a symbol in the photo (like the patterns with videos do)?
For example, a small crochet hook for crocheting, a needle for sewing, etc...

Hi Michaela, I’ll buy anything under €3.00 without giving it much thought. At €3.50, I start to wonder if I really need the pattern. At €4.00 and up, it has to be something really unique, and for anything over €5.00, I check to see if it includes multiple figures or something similar.

I can definitely imagine that a lot of work goes into writing up the patterns and taking all those beautiful photos—which also need to be edited.

Hi Gabi,

thank you very much for your reply. It’s nice to read a customer’s opinion too.

Best regards, Michaela
