Problem with the pattern

Hello,
I’m new here and I’m hoping you might be able to help me.
I’m currently crocheting a rhinoceros. Unfortunately, I’m completely stuck on the snout.
The pattern says the following:

Chain 5, then work

into the 2nd chain from the hook as follows: Round 1 (sc)*3, 3 sc in the last ch, on the underside of the ch chain: (sc)*2, inc 10

Round 2: inc, (sc)*2, (inc)*3, (sc)*2, (inc)*2 16

Round 3: sc, inc, (sc)*2, (sc, inc)*3, (sc)*2, (sc, inc)*2 22

Do you have any ideas? Somehow I’m too clueless for this. Best regards, Kristina 



Hi Kristina, here’s a diagram for the 1st round ... in this case you’re crocheting an oval.

Start with the single crochets in the 2nd chain from the hook and crochet a total of 3 sc. Crochet 3 sc into the last chain stitch, then 2 sc again on the underside, and 2 sc go into the last chain.

2nd rnd:

• increase in the 1st stitch = inc,
• then 2 single crochets = (sc)*2),
• increase in the next 3 stitches again = (inc)*3,
• 2 sc, and increase in the last 2 stitches = (inc)*2
  

3rd rnd:

• crochet 1 single crochet = sc,
• increase in the next stitch = inc,
• crochet 2 sc = (sc)*2,
• (1 sc, increase in the next stitch) crochet what’s in the parentheses a total of 3 times = (sc,inc)*3,
• crochet 2 sc again = (sc)*2,
• (1 sc, increase in the next stitch) crochet what’s in the parentheses a total of 2 times = (sc,inc)*2
