What you’ll need:

• Approx. 20g of yarn in the color you want the calf to be (I used “Sun City” yarn by Schachenmayr). This yarn should be suitable for a 3.5mm crochet hook. Leftover pink yarn for the nose, as well as leftover dark brown and red yarn. This leftover yarn should be suitable for a 3mm crochet hook
• A 3.5 mm crochet hook and a 3 mm crochet hook. If you use a 4 mm hook for the body, the calf will be larger.
• A darning needle and scissors
• Stuffing
• 8mm safety eyes; if you don’t want to use safety eyes or don’t have any, you can of course embroider the eyes instead

Easy Baby Crochet Shoes

This is an illustrated crochet pattern for easy-to-crochet baby shoes.

Basic crochet skills are enough.

We need:

approx. 50 g cotton (blend) yarn with a yardage of approx. 90 m per 50 g, for knitting needles size 4.0–5.0; used here: crochet hook 4.5; thinner yarn can also be used - the specified measurements are what matters (check gauge), leftover yarn for the bows or 2 pretty buttons, yarn needle, measuring tape, scissors

For this easy-to-knit baby traditional-style cardigan , you’ll need approx. 100 g of, for example, Zimba Top by Schoeller+Stahl in classic traditional gray + 50 g (or leftover yarn) of Regia 4-ply yarn in traditional green for the edging, size 3.0 knitting needles, and, if needed, a size 3–3.5 crochet hook for the decorative foundation chain on the placket.

For the baby shoes, I used 50 g of soft merino yarn with approx. 120 m - 130 m yardage per 50 g skein, color petrol, for knitting needle size 3–4; approx. 20 g of matching leftover yarn in the same yarn weight, color eggshell white or light beige (= leftover yarn). Gauge according to the ball band: 22 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm; used here: knitting needle 3.5, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle, and for the bow a crochet hook 3.0.

For this special sleeveless baby vest without buttons, we need:

150 g merino wool gray + 50 g merino wool red, here Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120, 50 g – 120 m yardage, gauge according to the label: 22 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm, knitting needles 3.0–4.0;
here: knitting needles 4.0, cable needle, crochet hook 3.5 for the bow, stitch holder or similar for holding stitches, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker is helpful.


The PDF pattern is illustrated.
The red cable on the back is made using the intarsia technique (explanation is included) and requires a little time and skill - so I would not recommend it for beginner knitters. The cable also looks lovely in solid gray; the whole piece is then knitted up quite quickly. For knitting beginners, I recommend knitting this vest completely without the cable and/or in one color.

A baby blanket is always a wonderful gift for a new baby, because it lasts a very long time and can be used every day. The "Marie" baby blanket is also a grow-with-me blanket. It is made in a size that is also suitable for toddlers, and at the beginning, when the baby is still very young, you can simply use it doubled over as a cover. Baby swaddle or baby sleeping bag and hat, crocheted with a knitted-on cuff

In my large family, there’s always a new addition, and I’m thinking about what I can give as a gift that not everyone already has. My idea is a sleeping bag (baby swaddle) with a matching hat. For the yarn, I chose a merino/cotton blend with a color gradient. The cotton is durable, and the merino keeps the baby nice and warm and is soft. (See the pattern for exact details.)
Now the question: knit or crochet? I decided to do both. The cuffs are knitted, and the rest is crocheted. Everything uses simple stitches that are described in detail.
The details are provided for 3 different sizes: 0–3, 3–6, and 6–12 months.
