Knitting: What do you like about it? (no advertising)

What do you especially like about knitting?

I’ve always loved knitting. I love it when a ball of yarn turns into a beautiful accessory, something to wear, or home decor.
I love it when the tips of the needles gently clatter and the knitting project grows stitch by stitch.
I think it’s wonderful when fluffy yarn turns into delicate lacework.
I like the smooth texture and even stitch pattern of cotton or merino, and their incredible softness.
And the best part is: you always end up with a one-of-a-kind piece. Not mass-produced off-the-rack items, but something truly unique. :-)

I’ve always knitted, too. In my later school years, when I didn’t have a household of my own yet, I ended up knitting winter sweaters every year. Once I even managed five of them. My birthday wish was always yarn from everyone. Later, I knitted for the children. Now I knit for my family and extended family.
Knitting outside by the radio or inside by the radio is simply a way to switch off and recharge. And with so many ideas, the work — or the pleasure — never ends.

Mainly the sense of calm it brings. When I knit, I feel completely at peace with myself.
But I also love the beautiful pieces that result from it. When you think about it, there aren’t actually that many different stitches, but they can be combined in practically endless ways, and something new always comes out of it—that’s truly fascinating.

I absolutely love to knit!
It’s so relaxing, and it’s such a joy when it’s finally finished.
My kids are always happy when Grandma has knitted something new.
My friends always ask, “So, another new idea?”
*grin*

The great thing about knitting is that you don’t always have to look at what you’re doing. I can do it while doing other things (e.g. watching TV). I can’t do that when crocheting. Also, I usually like knitted garments better than crocheted ones. That’s why I mainly crochet amigurumi.

I’ve always said: Knitting is my true love *haha*
Knitting is an art form—a craft so ancient that it’s impossible to imagine our history without it!

It was probably my great-grandmother’s influence, but in knitting I find pretty much everything I need to unwind. It’s meditative, and at the same time, a garment that no one else has is created out of “nothing” ;-)

I also enjoy crocheting from time to time, but my passion is definitely knitting!

For me, knitting is pure relaxation, and “along the way,” beautiful (and hopefully) useful things come to life.

For me, knitting is a break from crocheting.
Winter clothes made from it are wonderfully warm, and there are endless patterns—all of them beautiful. You’re always spoiled for choice, so it’s best to just make everything.
And I especially love it because I can tailor the garments perfectly to my figure. As a “tall, skinny person” with arms that are a bit too long, the chances of finding a nice dress with long sleeves or a winter vest that isn’t too loose but has sleeves long enough are very slim. But the things I make myself fit like a glove.

You can knit while watching TV, but crocheting is a bit harder to do that way! For a long time, I’ve actually only been knitting: I find knitted baby clothes much softer and cozier than crocheted ones (is that a prejudice?), and I can’t really picture crocheted socks—too bulky? For me, knitting is also more meditative than crocheting because—except with challenging patterns—you don’t always have to look at what you’re doing.
Since I’ve been working almost exclusively with circular needles, knitting on the go is less of a problem. With socks, however, I still need a set of double-pointed needles (not very practical to carry around!), since I haven’t quite gotten the hang of circular needles yet.
