I’m looking for a nice summer-friendly yarn. No cotton, or if so, only as a blend—and definitely no acrylic.
It should be light and soft.
I’m planning to knit a tunic.
It’s tricky if you don’t want cotton. Something I used recently and was really thrilled with was “Java” by ONLine. It does contain some cotton, but it’s blended with viscose—a thin, lightweight yarn with a long yardage that feels very soft.
This is my first time working with bamboo yarn!
Super light, super soft… the bamboo yarn I have here is quite thin (needle size 2–3), which is why I think it’s also perfect for summer clothes.
I’m also a fan of bamboo-blend sock yarn for summer. Bamboo keeps you cool in summer, and the yarn is soft and breathable. I found some at Kaufring last weekend.
Hi Michaela,
the 100% cotton “Bobbel Cotton” by Veronika Hug/ProLana is super soft and not heavy at all:
200 g – 800 m – it’s truly gorgeous and has great color gradients. Usually, one skein is enough for one triangular shawl. Depending on the size and style (lots of openwork?), one skein might even be enough for a tunic.
Best
wishes, Traudelina
I’ve worked with so many yarn cakes by now. I’d like to use twisted yarn again. ;-)
I ordered Alize’s “Bamboo” today. I’m already excited to see what it’s like. :-)
