Beautiful knitted sweaters—and what to do if a sweater is itchy?

Check this out—I found some cute knitted sweaters online :) Pink isn’t really my thing, but in winter I like to have cozy, warm clothes—as long as they don’t itch. Itchy wool clothes are a total no-go. Is there actually a trick for dealing with itchy clothes so they aren’t quite so itchy? Or do you have to figure that out when choosing the yarn or at the time of purchase, because once you’ve bought it, it’s too late and there’s nothing you can do about it? I heard once that it helps to put the itchy sweater in a plastic bag and stash it in the freezer for a while—supposedly that makes it less itchy. Has anyone ever tried that?

No, but I’ve heard of that—a soak with hair shampoo is supposed to help, too.

Hi Bastelhilde, nice to hear from you again :) Thanks for the tip about the shampoo—I’ll give that a try. I’ve also heard that if you don’t have any wool detergent on hand, you can wash things with shampoo—have you ever tried that? I’d be careful using shampoo in the washing machine, though—it’ll probably foam like crazy—but I’ve read that it’s supposed to work well for hand washing. If it’s gentle enough for your hair, it probably won’t hurt your wool sweater either—as long as you don’t use too much of it.

I only use it for hand washing. But you have to use a mild one.
