the “Crochet a Flower Toad and Win Store Credit” promotion is currently underway.
It seems like a good idea to me: let’s have the winner (the photo with the most votes) of this promotion decide which pattern should be featured in the next promotion. Any objections?
Dear Alexander,
sorry, but I don’t think that’s a good idea at all.
It’ll probably end up being a pattern by the same designer, and almost 100% certainly one from the same category—i.e., crochet.
But maybe I’m thinking about this the wrong way???
Let’s see what the others think.
I do think it’s good, though, to provide these thought-provoking ideas so we can share our opinions.
Best regards, Petra
Petra is right—why shouldn’t the winner choose one of her own patterns again? What’s wrong with letting everyone decide? Or just the customers, who could then vote on Facebook?
I meant the customer, not the seller. We can decide here whether to give the user with the best photo the right to decide. Otherwise, we still have the option of holding a vote, just like we did for the last promotion.
I’ll just ask openly: Do you have any ideas on how we should select the patterns for future promotions?
First, I’d rotate through 4 categories (crochet, sewing, knitting, and free patterns) on a regular basis—that would eliminate any debate, and each category would come up 3 times a year.
Then, the sellers who have patterns in the contest category should each provide one of their own patterns.
This selection would then be posted on Facebook for a vote, and buyers could choose.
That way, no one is at a disadvantage, and customers have a choice.
Put the whole thing on a fixed schedule, and anyone who doesn’t meet the deadlines is, unfortunately, out of luck (no exceptions).
I think Johanna’s suggestion is good. Especially switching categories.
As soon as the category is announced, each designer can submit “ONE
” pattern to the contest. Then we’ll hold a vote, just like last time, and that’s it.
For example:
1. Announcement of the category (this can also be announced in advance for the coming months) Designer submission period: approx. 3 days
2. Voting and subsequent announcement of the winning pattern in the forum and on Facebook: approx. 1 week
3. Uploading the photos by a specific date: approx. 2 weeks / In the meantime, maybe a reminder post on Facebook for customers and designers to vote?
4. Announcement of the winner
Until now, it hasn’t been necessary to submit an application; instead, we’ve publicly asked which pattern people would find interesting, and then a selection was made.
The sellers haven’t really had any influence on this so far.
We’re currently looking for a solution that works for everyone.
We’ve now completed Campaign 4 and would like to start Campaign No. 5 soon. In the 5th campaign, we want to allow all patterns on a trial basis (as briefly mentioned in this thread).
To everyone who is strongly against it: for now, it’s just a single campaign—so please simply wait patiently :-)
