Knitting a Honeycomb Pattern

how do you knit a honeycomb pattern? Can you also crochet it?

Honeycomb patterns can be knitted and crocheted.

I’ve seen some nice patterns here on CP, even some in Tunisian crochet.

The classic honeycomb pattern is knitted using slipped stitches. You can knit it in stockinette stitch using two colors, or in a single color using knit stitches and purl stitches.
The pattern repeats over several rows.
When knitted with knit stitches and purl stitches, you get a very textured pattern.
