Crocheting Two-Color Rows

Hi everyone,

I recently discovered crocheting and am still practicing hard ;-) I’ve now started a project where I crocheted the first row in pink and the second in white. The third row is giving me trouble. Here, white and pink are mixed together, and the “neat” row (where the color pattern is correct) ends up on the back. How can I avoid this?

Hi ichbinneuhier,
nice name :-)
The experts will definitely be able to help you with the color change.

@ichbinneuhier ,

what exactly do you mean by the “neat” row?

Could it be that you’re supposed to crochet over the second color so the yarn doesn’t get in the way... Take a look on YouTube for “Tapestry” — maybe that technique is the solution.

Hugs, Sabine

Hi everyone,

thanks for your replies.
I’d love to attach a photo, but whether on my computer or my phone, it just keeps loading forever and nothing happens.

@Otterthaler_Haekelmaus: I crocheted over the carried strand, and it reached the end of the row. I have one row of single crochet in pink and one row of single crochet in white. My problem is the third row. When I start it, the white and pink get mixed together. On the back, I get the stitches I want (only white in this case). How do I reverse that? This is what the pattern should look like in the end (I hope it’s okay to post the link ;-) )

Hallo ichbinneuhier,

Hi Otterthaler_Haekelmaus,

thanks for your reply. :D
I have two more questions:

Would you cut the yarn after 4 rows, or how do I bring the yarn up later without it stretching over the pink strands?

And what should I do if I only want to work one row at a time? (One row white, one row pink.) In that case, I’d carry the yarn over, but how do I avoid the colors getting mixed up when changing rows?
