Making Amigurumi Faces Really Cute

Hi :)
In the gallery and on Facebook, there are often photos of amigurumi that have really cute faces with genuine expressions.
I never seem to get it quite right when I try. They end up kind of lopsided and crooked and just not cute at all.
Is it just a matter of practice, or are there any tricks to it? If so, would anyone be willing to share some tips?
That would be really nice of you
—thanks :)

I have my own struggles with this too, but I always try to embroider the faces with slightly thinner yarn. The first few faces looked terrible, but it’s getting better.
Best regards, schneekanone1

I’ve gotten into the habit of sketching the faces (or rather, the mouths) with a pen first. That way, I have better control over where I’m stitching. For the eyes, I use safety eyes as often as possible—which is actually standard practice for amigurumi.

Otherwise, I definitely recommend not using wool. Thread is much better suited for this. (If you don’t have any thread on hand, you can also split wool and pull several strands from one thread.

For pink cheeks, it’s best to use blush.

And with a little practice, you’ll get the hang of it :)

Hi muetzekatze, if you don’t have any thinner yarn for the faces, untwist the yarn you’re using for crocheting—in short, make two strands out of one.
