Be honest: Which project has been sitting unfinished in your box the longest because you got stuck somewhere along the way?

I’ve had a big C2C blanket in my closet for almost 4 years. It’s 80% done, but I just don’t have the motivation to finish it. 🫣😄

Ohhhh, I bought some yarn in New Zealand seven years ago and wanted to make something beautiful with it. I started knitting it once… did some unraveling… started again… and now it’s just lying around because I still don’t like how it looks. Somehow, I just can’t find the right project for this “possum wool.”

I’ve learned from this, though. Even if I see beautiful yarn on vacation, I don’t always have to buy some and bring it home. Without an idea or a clear goal, I don’t want to buy any more yarn. That would just be a shame.

Oh yeah... Speaking of C2C blankets, mine is about 40% done, and it’s been waiting for me to finish it for SEVERAL years now.

I never finish things that have been lying around unfinished for several years. That was just a failed attempt where I simply didn’t yet have the courage to rip it out. But if the yarn was nice, I do that, because I need it. It’s also happened that a project like that ended up in the trash. If something hasn’t tempted me for years, it won’t tempt me in the years to come either.

Best, Ina

I’ve worked on a lot of projects over the last 2–3 years. But I just didn’t have the energy to write up the patterns.

Now, a lot of things in my personal life are now organized, and I finally have some breathing room to take care of my own projects. That’s why today I’ve picked out some smaller projects, found the matching handwritten notes for them, and am getting started.

Wish me luck that nothing unexpected gets in the way.

I really hope you get it done. You can do it.

I also have another one of those UFO projects that’s been weighing on my mind.

My neighbor gave me his wife’s newly purchased performance jacket. It had gotten caught on something, and now there’s a T-shaped tear about 10 cm long right down the middle of the front at chest level. It’s a dark blue, coated performance jacket.

My neighbor said, “Ina, you know how to sew—can you fix this jacket?” I told him that it would be very difficult, if not impossible. But since his wife, out of frustration, had already tossed the jacket into the trash, he asked me to at least try to repair it. To this day, though, I haven’t come up with any brilliant ideas. No one misses the jacket, and it’s now hanging on the clothes rack in the sewing room for the third summer in a row.

In the meantime, I bought a patch, but as a woman, do you really want a patch right in the middle at chest level? There’s also an inside pocket under the slit. Grrrrh.

This thread has inspired me to show you the jacket, complete with the slit and the patch—maybe someone here has an idea. Until then

Best regards—Ina

Why not add a crochet appliqué to it? There’s that iron-on adhesive you can spread on one side of the appliqué to iron it onto the jacket.

Should I sew a pocket over the tear? Or is that a bad spot for it?

Orrrr, I have countless ones lying around here.

Anything I’ve started gets unraveled.

But there are plenty of things that are 70–90% done. I just have zero motivation to finish them because I don’t really like them that much anymore.

But a jacket that’s almost finished—one that I’ve put a lot of work into—I’m not going to unravel. It just sits there and takes up space.
