Dear community,
I wish you a lovely weekend with plenty of time for crafting. Saturday is Compliment Day, and March 1 is World Compliment Day, the latter of which is probably better known. These days really do exist; I didn’t make them up. How about sharing some kind words with a few dear people on Saturday?
Dear Josefa,
it’s a good thing I don’t need a “Compliments Day.” I say kind—or at least praising and appreciative—words to those around me every day. There’s always a reason to praise others and be grateful.
Warm regards, Ina
I didn’t know about these Compliment Days either, at least not by their specific dates.
But… at work, they’ve introduced something like this. There’s a sheet hanging on the bulletin board where anyone can tear off a compliment, and you can then give it to a coworker who the compliment applies to—for that particular workday.
In any case, I often give compliments to my residents at work when they’re wearing a pretty new blouse or have a new hairstyle—it really warms the heart. They thank me with a smile. It’s so nice.
In today’s sometimes hectic, heartless world, we need things like this—it’s just good for the soul.
I’m also wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Cologne is even treating us to some sunshine—what more could you ask for?
That’s always the thing with all these special days—having them just once a year doesn’t really do much good. What good is a compliment today from someone who’ll then be giving me a hard time for the other 364 days? Or on Mother’s Day, when the picture-perfect bouquets are handed out, but no one cares for the rest of the year.
I’d rather spread it all out over the whole year—flowers, compliments, a smile—it almost always works.
