Well, I’ll report active UFO avoidance too—I had to reorder some yarn as well 🤗 I’ve put myself on a yarn diet for this year; I actually stuck to it back in 2024, but then in 2025 I snagged sooo much fun, bouncy yarn that my yarn mountain hasn’t gotten any smaller...😁
As I can see, you all have good reasons for your yarn/fabric purchases, so I thought we’d change the rules for working down the yarn stash.
If you buy a few balls of yarn to finish a project, that doesn’t really count as a new purchase at all—it counts as reducing your yarn stash and finishing a UFO, because you’re actually completing a project. So that’s justified and doesn’t count as adding to your yarn stash.
Yesterday I was forced to buy some yarn. 😂
With these cold temperatures, my grandson wants a new scarf and asked me to knit one out of cozy chenille yarn.
So I started knitting it yesterday. Two skeins, and the scarf will be finished today.
So no yarn pile building up, since everything gets used up right away. 😊
Compelled to buy yarn—things are getting more and more drastic around here. :-)
Of course, this doesn’t count as adding to your yarn stash, whether you use it right away or not.
I had resolved to always finish two projects (UFOs or projects using existing yarn) before allowing myself to buy new yarn. But after I cleaned out my yarn stash over the holidays, I changed that resolution to THREE projects before buying anything new—I’ve “rediscovered” so much that I have to (and want to) tackle it all first!
