Did you see the Christ Child? How was Christmas?

How was your Christmas? Was it nice? Did you see the Christ Child, or was it too fast again?

Dear Josefa,

my Christmas was wonderful, exciting, colorful, bustling, full of surprises, joy, good food, loved ones, Christmas music, a colorfully decorated Christmas tree, excited and hyperactive kids, a touch of nostalgia, and a moment of reflection.

We even saw the Christ Child. He was trudging down the small residential street where my son lives with his family, carrying a heavy sack full of gifts. You could see the neighbors’ houses and the streetlight. Under the streetlight stood the large, festively decorated sleigh with eight magnificent reindeer in front of it. On the sleigh lay a huge pile of gifts waiting to be delivered.

The surveillance camera above the house entrance captured the photo proving that Santa Claus was indeed out and about near us that night. Everyone looked at the photos and their eyes widened.

Our Christmas was, just like the last three years, wonderfully quiet and so peaceful—no stress, no pressure, just heavenly peace. My oldest daughter’s sons—and she herself—were at Grandma and Grandpa’s on Christmas Day, and we spent a very nice, cozy afternoon together.

Yes, Christmas was really lovely—quiet and reflective at times, but also fun and bustling with the family. A little bit of everything—that’s perfect.
The Christmas Spirit popped up from unexpected places—nothing but wonderful moments, like the neighbor’s impromptu visit with sparkling wine and homemade cookies, a phone call from my best friend, and—just like that—a trip booked on the spot, or a walk in the sunshine where you have the most interesting and funny encounters.
