Dear community,
Technology is developing at a rapid pace, and “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) is also making its way into the world of crafts. Maybe you’ve already seen images that looked deceptively real but were generated entirely on a computer, or photos that were heavily edited with AI tools to create the perfect background.
We think: Using modern tools to optimize product photos is a great way to present patterns attractively. At the same time, one thing is especially important to us (and to you!): honesty and transparency.
That’s why, starting today, we’re introducing a new feature that allows images to be labeled as “AI-assisted.”
🌟 What does this mean for you as a buyer?
When you browse through the patterns, you’ll start seeing a small symbol (star) or the note “AI-assisted” on some product images in the future.
That means:
- This image was created or edited with the help of artificial intelligence.
- The author is being upfront and showing you transparently that digital assistance was involved here.
The label helps you better distinguish real photos of finished handmade items from AI visualizations.
🧶 What does this mean for you as an author?
We’d like to encourage you to use this new feature to strengthen customers’ trust. If you use AI tools, you can now mark this very easily.
How it works:
1. Go to the area where you manage your images (in the product image manager).
2. There, you’ll now find the option “Mark as AI-assisted” in the “menu” for each image.
3. One click is all it takes, and the image will automatically receive the label in the shop.
When should I check the box?
We recommend using the label if the image was generated entirely artificially or if essential parts of the image were added or heavily changed by AI. Simple light correction or other minimal changes naturally do not require labeling.
Important to know
Do not pretend purely AI-made products are real
Very important for our authors: Even when using AI tools, our basic rule still applies that your product images must show the actual finished result of the pattern. It is not permitted to use images generated entirely by AI that only pretend to show a finished product. Customers rely on being able to recreate the model exactly as it is shown in the photo. AI may provide support (e.g., with the background), but it must never replace the craft or be misleading.
Note about the label
Use of this label is voluntary for authors. Since the technology has now advanced so far that differences are often barely recognizable, we as a platform cannot determine with absolute certainty for every image whether AI was used. Here, we trust in the honesty of our authors and their desire for transparency, but we cannot guarantee complete labeling of all images in the shop.
By being open together about these new technologies, Crazypatterns remains the warm, welcoming place we all love so much.
