Gingerbread at the supermarket?

Dear Community,
Is early-season gingerbread already in the supermarket, or do you still have to wait?

Mod Tip: You can find Advent and Christmas patterns in the shop at any time if you want to get started.

Yep, it’s already starting to feel like Christmas. And people are snapping them up!

Yes, gingerbread, stollen, and other Christmas treats are everywhere.

I think that’s a real shame. Who’s still looking forward to the first Sunday of Advent with friends and family when the first Guzzle cookies and your own stollen are already available?

By now, there probably isn’t a supermarket left without Christmas products. The whole thing started back in August ... you can read about it here

Since my husband really likes speculoos cookies, he already bought and ate 2 packages. I prefer the ones with a chocolate coating, but they’re very expensive this year. So my conclusion is: This year I’m baking all MY gingerbread cookies myself. That way I won’t have to care about supermarket prices ... and I decide how they taste and what goes into them.

Best wishes, Ina

Well, here in western Cologne, it really only started recently—definitely not back in August. But it’s still pretty early.
I don’t really like most of it, so I’m hardly interested, but purely from a decorative standpoint, for me, fall comes first with Thanksgiving and Halloween—I’d prefer to see those in the stores too, but everywhere’s already getting into the Christmas spirit.
Tedi has both side by side on the shelves—it’s quite a colorful mix. 🤣

It’s already there.
We’re waiting until Lebkuchen Schmidt reopens its store in the nearest accessible city.

We already have everything in stock, and lots of people are buying them now.
It’s all too early for me—I’m waiting until November, otherwise I won’t want to see any of it during Advent.

Hi,
Yes, they’re available, but I don’t buy them. Not now, and not later either. I don’t like them, I can’t tolerate them, and I bake my own cookies and stollen. I start baking in November with stollen and Elisen gingerbread, but those aren’t available before the first Sunday of Advent either...😇
Best regards, Marita

I’m already buying some now, because last year I found that a lot of things were sold out by the end of November/beginning of December and weren’t restocked. I just stash them at home until Advent (though I do open the occasional package a little earlier 😉).

I do exactly the same as Ruth. I’ve had the experience of gingerbread hearts being out of stock by mid-December. But since I live alone now, the “waste” stays within reasonable limits...😉

Oh, that’s really a great idea. I’m totally the type to put it off, and sure enough, by the time I finally wanted to buy some, it was already gone.

Thanks for the tip. Buy some and hide it well like a squirrel.
