Hello everyone 👋
we love handmade crafts – and we want our website to run as resource-efficiently as possible, too. That’s why we host Crazypatterns with Hetzner. We explain what’s behind this in the new article.

30-second summary (no IT jargon)
- The data centers run on 100% green electricity. In Germany, it currently comes from hydropower (certified for 2023–2025). In Finland, it has also been renewable since 2018 – 2024: 50% hydro / 50% wind; 2025–2026: hydropower (certified). (This means: server operations are fully covered by green electricity.)
- Hetzner’s data centers have an average PUE of 1.13 (2024 industry average: 1.56).
(Simply put: For 1 watt of computing power, Hetzner incurs only about 0.13 watts of “overhead”; worldwide, the average is about 0.56 watts.)
- Cooling is done with outside air – no water consumption for cooling; fresh air is sufficient for up to 98% of the year.
- Servers run for an average of about 8 years, are repaired, and continue to be used via a server marketplace; waste heat warms office spaces.
- The data center parks (Nuremberg, Falkenstein, Helsinki) are certified according to ISO/IEC 27001.
- Honest & with a plan: Hetzner is not climate-neutral (yet), but is working on it and is building its own solar parks, among other things (first project about 6.5 MW).
Why this matters to you
- 🌿 Handmade crafts conserve resources – and so do our online operations.
- All facts are backed up in the article (certificates, studies, ISO documentation).
- Efficient, well-cooled, and certified infrastructure is the basis for keeping Crazypatterns running reliably.
