I’m going for it :-))....and giving it a try.

I picked up some yarn today to knit a cardigan for my husband and found a pattern online that I like. I needed a little help getting started with the stitch count in the pattern, but my daughter gave me a hand. :-)) I’m still working on the cuff; I’ll show it to you when I’ve made more progress. I’ve only knitted one men’s cardigan so far, and I’m not as confident with them as I am with women’s cardigans, but challenges are there to be overcome.

Love, Inge

That’s the spirit! Good luck!
A loooong time ago, I knitted a huge men’s cardigan (since the wearer wasn’t exactly tiny), with really great cable and diamond patterns—it was truly wonderful. But over time, it kept stretching out more and more. Someone suggested I wash it in a bit warmer water and spin it gently.... Sure, I did.... After that, it stood all by itself and would have fit a teddy bear at most. 🤣🤣

Dear Inge,
I’m sure it will work out.
Enjoy it.

Dear Inge,
I’m so glad you’re making something for your husband. He’s such a caring husband—he often bakes cakes for you, supports you whenever he can, and does everything for everyone. I think he more than deserves a personal reward. That’s why this will be a very lovingly knitted cardigan. You can do it!

Best regards, Ina

So, here’s a first update on the cardigan: the sides and the back are knitted in one go up to the armhole, then the work is divided. There are 188 stitches on the needle, and that takes some time ;-):-)
I’m only using the measurements and stitch count from the pattern—the pattern itself is my own :-)

Best regards, Inge

You can already make out a bit of the stitch pattern, dear Inge.

Hopefully the yarn won’t stretch out. Did you wash the gauge swatch too? Otherwise, you might be in for a surprise. It would be a shame after all your work.

Best regards, Ina

I’ve worked with this yarn many times before and even knitted myself a cardigan about 3 years ago—the yarn holds its shape well and is cozy.

Hugs, Inge

Well then, dear Inge, nothing stands in the way of you continuing to knit at your own leisurely pace. I hope you continue to enjoy this knitting project for your husband. I’m sure he’s following your progress especially closely this time.

Best regards, Ina

Just a quick update on the cardigan—it’s coming along slowly but surely :-)

Love, Inge
