That Wasn't the Plan...

I wanted to make myself a new lantern for fall


First, I embroidered it


Then it was sewn onto fabric

Up to this point, I was still very happy with it


But oh no, you can see the floral fabric through it. 

Now I'm going to take it apart, put interfacing underneath, and try again. 

Keep your fingers crossed for me






 

Dear Petra, I’ve been there too. But I’m sure you’ll find a version that you’ll like in the end.

If you sew interfacing behind the pumpkin motif, the light won’t shine through there enough—that’s my guess. Maybe you could quilt the pumpkin motif all around it on the colorful fabric… and then remove the colorful fabric from the back there—just next to the seam?

Dear Ina, yes, interfacing was my first thought to save it, too. 

I’m not too keen on cutting the fabric because I’m afraid everything will end up being too small.

Now I have a container for cookies during the fall season. 

It turned out beautifully, dear Petra. I really like the way the covered lid has a little cap and the stitches are visible. The embroidered pumpkin motif goes wonderfully with the fabric.
