What should you keep in mind when making comfortable children's clothing by hand?

Make sure the children’s clothing is loose enough so the child can move freely, and fits well enough that it doesn’t restrict the child’s movements. Children’s clothing should be made of breathable material so the child doesn’t get too hot.

From my own experience, I can say that the fabric should definitely be made of wool suitable for babies, since little ones love to chew on it. I knit using merino or cotton—or a blend of merino and cotton, or merino and silk—depending on the season. It’s also practical to knit clothes with fold-over cuffs, so they’ll fit longer. Spiral socks or banana socks are always a good choice, since they always fit and grow with the child. My daughter is now 8 months old and still wears her very first pair of spiral socks.
