Sewing on Hoods

What should you keep in mind when sewing on hoods?

First, make sure the hood’s cut matches the jacket or hoodie. Then, ensure the circumference at the collar fits exactly and isn’t too loose or too tight. Next, pin the hood evenly to the jacket so it doesn’t hang off to one side but sits evenly all around. For a jacket with a lining, pin the hood between the lining and the outer fabric and then sew it on; this way, there won’t be any visible seam edges on the outside. For a hoodie, you should either sew the hood on using an overlock or coverlock machine, or use the zigzag stitch or an overlock-like stitch on a sewing machine. In this case, the cut edges should be clean and straight, because if they fray, it looks unattractive.
