Knitting Size

I'd like to knit a baby sweater in exactly size 62 with raglan sleeves, but I can only find size 62/68.
Since I'm not a pro, I don't know how to convert
the sizes. Would it be okay to use a needle one size smaller for size 62/68?
Can anyone help me?

Clothing sizes are often listed as a range—because everyone has a different build, even if they share the same size. When it comes to knitted stitches, I think that’s perfectly fine and acceptable.

But since you don’t want the sweater to turn out too big, I would actually recommend using a slightly smaller needle size in your case. When you wash the garment, it will get a little bigger anyway because the stitches will settle into each other a bit.

If the little sweater has raglan sleeves, it won’t be too tight under the arms—and if the sleeves end up being too long, you can always roll them up. Little ones grow into their clothes very quickly.

Since babies drool, please be sure to choose saliva-safe yarn.
