The big advantage of gradient cakes is that the color gradient comes directly from the ball of yarn. That automatically creates an interesting look. If you add an easy-to-follow pattern, a wonderful blanket like this could be the result:

Endless Blanket

This is what the purchased gradient cake made of 4 strands of merino wool looked like:

And this is the finished crocheted blanket in a textured pattern. You can crochet it as large as you like, or as large as the gradient cake allows. You can also use two gradient cakes if you want the blanket to be bigger.
