Wool-Buying Detox

This year, I’m taking a break from buying yarn 🙃
Let’s see how long I can go without buying any.
My oldest daughter said, “Mom, if you get the urge, just order from me. I’ll go up to the attic, gather up the right yarn, pack it up, tape the box shut, go outside, ring the doorbell… and just like that, the illusion is perfect!” 😂
It’s nice to have some support…

Actually, I have sooo much yarn that I could stock at least one store 🫣—so every single yarn purchase is really just a way to satisfy a whim.

That’s a really nice idea from your daughter and such great support.

Yeah, we have too much yarn—or always the wrong kind. And every now and then, we just feel the need to buy something nice for ourselves.....

I can’t play along with that—I just ordered some yarn today. 🤣 That said, I don’t have soooo much in stock either. I do have cotton—there was quite a bit in the Advent calendar—and I always have sock yarn on hand, but at most 500 g; other than that, nothing else.

You have a clever daughter. You really have to think of that package idea first.

Don’t you also have the problem we all know: there’s always one skein missing, or one or two colors for a project, no matter how big your stash is?

This is what my yarn shop looks like...

Yeah, sure, I know that so-called “something’s missing” problem all too well…
I’ll have to figure something out. But even that has to work out 😂

I haven’t bought any yarn yet.
But I’ll have to do that at the latest once I get the go-ahead for an order.

Mod edit:
Unfortunately, I had to remove the image "Wool comes from wanting, not needing."
Please upload only your own images.

Hi everyone!

I’m proud to announce: I successfully stuck to my yarn-buying detox in January.
I finished a total of 7 projects in January (and started a few more, but those won’t go on the list until they’re finished) and used a total of 1184g of yarn.
I crocheted two Granny Stripes jackets using PapatyaAngora. I used 155g for one and 201g for the other.
I also crocheted a beret to match the first jacket using 20g.
Then I knitted a poncho with a cable pattern from a “megaball.” Yarn used: 501g.
Next came a knitted dog sweater for my daughter’s miniature dachshund made from 58g of Tweed by Zeeman.
I also made a slipover and a sweater with dinosaurs for my little one using Royal by Zeeman. I used 78g for the slipover and 171g for the sweater.

😊

Image removed due to an unclear legal situation.

Bini-Katz… of course I know that (but it doesn’t get “better” by posting it twice 🙃😉)…
But I DON’T WANT to buy any yarn right now—that’s the point. If I wanted to, I could pile up even more insurmountable mountains of yarn in my house, but I just WANT to work through these right now 😊

I reposted it because it had been removed by admin, not to annoy you. ;-)

You’re only allowed to post your own pictures here, so this one will be removed again.

And who says it isn’t my own photo?

How did you figure out that it wasn’t my own photo?

What makes you think it wasn’t their own photo? The deleted one was completely different, wasn’t it?

Is this your picture or not?
If I don’t get a clear answer to my question, the picture will be removed.

It’s mine. Of course, I didn’t write the text myself, but I’m sure there’s no copyright on it.

Since I don’t know what the legal situation is regarding imitating someone else’s image by using a picture with a similar motif and the same caption, I’ll delete the second image as well. Please refrain from uploading such images.

It’s okay.

Please don’t include any links in the posts.
By now, everyone knows that yarn comes from “want” and not from “need,” so I’m asking you to just let it go.

You can count on that.

Thanks, Bini-Katz.

@Community,
how’s it going with your yarn shopping—or with your yarn diet/yarn detox?

Oh Josefa, I went shopping in mid-January and stocked up a bit.

It wasn’t necessary—my closets are still full. But it was sooooo nice. And as you can see in my stats, since 2018 I’ve been buying less and using more 🤣

So there should actually still be room for even more yarn 😱😂🧶

Good morning!
I just wanted to quickly—and, of course, with a bit of pride 😉—share that I still haven’t bought even the tiniest bit of yarn ☺️
I’m working through my stash diligently 😊

Great. The temptations are huge—everywhere I shop, there’s at least one little shelf with yarn.

Have a sunny weekend
