Turn old into new

It was a jacket with really thick sleeves and very warm—I haven’t worn it in three years, but it was still hanging in my closet because I knew somehow I’d be able to turn it into something wearable again. Today I cut off the sleeves and used the leftover denim to finish the armholes and the top of the collar, and now I have a long vest that keeps my lower back and bottom warm :-) I bought the fabric for this jacket about 8 or 9 years ago here in Schweinfurt. I just need to iron the jacket again so the wool fabric hangs nicely before I head out in it :-)

It’s really great when you can still salvage beautiful things like this—it would have been such a shame to let it go to waste.
