Dear users, dear authors,
What are the benefits of swaddle bags?

I never put my kids in a swaddle bag like that—none of my three liked it either, because if you wrapped them even just a little too tightly in a flannel blanket, they’d scream their heads off; they really take after me in that regard :-) ;-) I never liked being squeezed into anything either :-) ;-)

Love, Inge

Inge, babies aren’t cramped in a swaddle bag. It’s more like a half-sleeping bag. The tummy and legs are nicely protected. Thanks to its shape, the little legs can move and kick, but they’re still snugly wrapped up and warm. With a blanket, they’re more likely to get tangled up or kick it off.

Hello, everyone!
What’s currently referred to as a “swaddle bag” is simply a sleep sack with a high cuff. In it, babies can feel their skin and bare legs at night while staying warm; they can kick their legs freely and explore their bodies. This is important for sensory development and, above all, almost all babies enjoy it.
Swaddling, on the other hand, involves tightly wrapping the baby. This not only securely encloses the legs and lower body but also the arms and shoulders.
For most babies (if done from the very beginning!), it has a calming effect, as it reminds them of the snugness of the womb during the last days and weeks before birth.
It also helps babies who “fidget themselves awake” (most people are probably familiar with this—when a baby suddenly throws its arms up to the side while sleeping and—often—wakes up as a result) and can’t get back to sleep.
But it has to be done correctly, so please seek advice from midwives, etc., because there are actually quite a few ways to do it wrong.
And once you know how to do it right, you don’t need a special blanket or sack—you can use any piece of fabric that’s the right size.

P.S.: I also really loved sleep sacks for my kids.

Best regards
