Pattern sketches and finishing

Dear users, dear authors,
how can the work step involving pattern sketches and finishing be made easier when handmaking clothing or when reading / creating patterns?

The first and most important thing is to have someone else take your measurements. NEVER MEASURE YOURSELF, BECAUSE THOSE MEASUREMENTS ARE NEVER ACCURATE! When you measure yourself, you’re always twisting and turning and never standing completely straight, so key points that affect the fit end up shifting. This is important for sewn, knitted, and crocheted garments. Once you have these measurements, you can create a sewing pattern or a pattern sketch. I’d advise against just eyeballing it—otherwise, you’ll end up looking like the famous goat in the milk pail :-) ;-) There’s no such thing as “quick and easy” here, because you need a lot of measurements, and creating the sewing pattern requires time and patience—at least that’s how it is for me.
Patterns should be written clearly enough for anyone else to follow them easily, because with some patterns, I get the feeling that the author assumes you can read their mind—and unfortunately, that’s just not possible. Patterns should be written clearly and understandably so that even someone who isn’t very familiar with the technique can follow along.
