Gift wrappings can be decorative all on their own. You don’t even have to be able to tell at first glance that a gift is hidden inside.
Here are a few examples of crocheted gift wrappings from my shop:

The
royal guard soldier with his bearskin cap is crocheted around an empty toilet paper roll. This way, you can remove the upper body and fill the soldier’s belly with a little surprise, such as real English toffees. Or how about a gift certificate for a weekend trip to London?

Chef Charly is crocheted using the same principle. Here, too, a cardboard tube serves as the base. In Charly’s belly, you can hide your favorite recipe along with some homemade treats, or perhaps a gift certificate for a fantastic meal at a fine-dining restaurant?

And here’s another bottle wrapper for large and small bottles that you can use to delight anyone who loves gnomes and a good bottle: the
bottle gnomes. If you reinforce the body well with laundry starch or a bit of cardboard, you can also use the gnomes for other gift ideas.
