Well then, dear Inge, you’re definitely not going to get bored. Don’t knit too fast—that way, you won’t finish it too soon. You won’t need the tweed jacket until fall anyway.

Love, Ina

That looks like a nice gradient!

The scarf is knitted very simply and plainly in diagonal garter stitch. The jacket itself has enough pattern—it doesn’t need anything
too exciting, just a calming element to balance the look.
This is how far I’ve gotten so far; I knitted a little bit last night while watching TV

Hi Inge,
I saw that there’s a documentary on the Arte channel:
Harrison Tweed: The Return of a Legend

But I haven’t watched it myself yet.

Thanks, UrsulaPetra—I’ll check it out in the media library.

So, I’ve knitted up the first bobble—3 more are still waiting :-)

Will the scarf turn out more like a stole?

Yes, exactly, since I rely on walking aids, a triangular shawl is impractical for me because it’s too short at the front.

That already looks really great, Inge. What’s the name of your gradient yarn or material, and what’s the yardage?
The colors are neutral and go with everything.

One more question: how do you knit that even edge? Do you slip the stitches at the end and knit them at the beginning, or how do you do it?
I can knit simple things like that too (every now and then alongside crocheting)

Lots of love, Andrea

Andrea, this is yarn from Tedox called Wendy, Cheesecake knitting yarn. It knits up really well and almost by itself :-)
The edge forms when I increase on one side; I do this by first knitting the edge stitch, then a knit stitch, and then knitting a second stitch out of that same stitch. That means I first insert the needle from the back into the knit stitch and then from the front to knit the second stitch from the same knit stitch. Hope that makes sense :-) Here’s how I decrease: I knit the edge stitch, then slip the 2nd stitch on the needle, knit the 3rd stitch, and pass the unknitted, slipped stitch over the 3rd knitted stitch. That’s how I decrease, and it creates this edge.

Best, Inge

So, I’ve finished knitting yarn cake #2—the stole is now 1m long on the short side. I think once I’ve finished knitting the third yarn cake, it should be enough;
if not, I still have a fourth yarn cake lying around :-)

Best, Inge

You’re really quick! I noticed the beautiful, even edge right away, too.
The jacket and scarf will definitely look very chic together.
