My placemats

I sewed all of these placemats over 10 years ago. The ones with the blue cups were a gift for my youngest daughter; my sister took the ones with the pumpkins; and the ones with the “Guten Appetit” inscription ended up staying with me :-)))

Inge, your placemats look great. The ones with the blue cups would fit right in at my place, too. 

Dear Inge, I already know that you sew just about everything there is to sew. I really like the designs, too, because they go so well with a coffee table setting. But we don’t use placemats at our house. We put a nice tablecloth on the table and set the dishes on top of that. Personally, I find placemats old-fashioned, but that’s just my own personal opinion. Everyone has different tastes, after all. They’re still lovely, though!

Yes, I do use placemats; we have a glass table. I don’t like tablecloths—they hide the beautiful table—and without placemats, the dishes clatter too much, so we use them at mealtime. So far, though, I’ve only used store-bought ones; right now, I’m using some made of bamboo.
