making something new from something old :-)

I knitted this cardigan for myself in 2015, but back then I was a good 25 kilos heavier than I am now, and the cardigan became far too wide for me by far, and the
sleeves ended up being almost 30 cm too long [image removed].
Yesterday I took out the sleeves and unraveled them; it was a bit tedious,
but with patience it worked. Today I made the armholes narrower
by opening the shoulder seam to about halfway and then sewing it
back together, but this time I widened the seam allowance a lot toward the armhole
by about 4.5 cm, and then crocheted around the armholes with half double crochet as
a cuff. Now I can wear the piece as a sleeveless vest.

That’s a nice solution. It would have been a shame if you couldn’t wear that pretty jacket anymore. Often, it’s enough if we’re warm around the back. My arms don’t get cold that quickly.

The result is great. I like the vest better than the jacket, and you’ll get much more use out of it.
Your projects are a prime example of sustainability.
