As you crochet this attractive beach bag featuring sea creatures, you can dream of summer, sun, sand, and the sea. The bag is crocheted using the tapestry technique, which means the yarn of the color not currently in use is simply worked into the stitches. This, combined with the double-stitch pattern, makes the bag very sturdy and prevents it from stretching out easily. You’ll enjoy watching the pattern slowly take shape.
To make this project, you’ll need 5 skeins of the darker color and 4 skeins of the lighter color.

Kids love bags because they can use them to carry or store lots of treasures on walks. I crocheted this kindergarten bag for my two granddaughters. Although it was only taken to kindergarten at first, it’s still irreplaceable today (even at age 7) and comes along on walks. It still brings both girls great joy.

The bag is crocheted very sturdily with a double bottom and has an adjustable strap. This way, the bag can easily grow with the child. It holds quite a bit. The flap can be embroidered—I embroidered one granddaughter’s name on hers, and for the other, I bought a name patch and sewed it on.

You should have good crocheting skills and experience for this project. Then you’ll really enjoy crocheting it. Maybe this bag would make a great Easter gift for your child or grandchild—filled with lots of treats and placed in their Easter basket.
