Foil jersey

Dear users, dear designers,
what is foil jersey? What is the difference compared to cotton jersey?

Foil jersey is a polyester jersey that’s printed with a plastic film on top, which means when you wear it, you’re essentially wearing a *mobile sauna* ;-) Foil jersey is very prone to creases and wrinkles—once they’ve set into the fabric, they never go away and the fabric never smooths out again. I really don’t like this stuff at all, no matter how great it looks or how beautifully it shines, because it’s just *plastic fabric*.

I wouldn't like it for clothes either, but for bags or things like that, some items really do look great.

I tend to use foil jersey for decorations. It looks really great that way. Or sometimes I use scraps to embellish clothes—with appliqués or something like that. For a mermaid costume I made for my granddaughter, I used foil jersey for the tail fin. And I also used foil jersey for this doll’s outfit. (The dolls can’t really complain, after all 🙂)
