Bind off at the neckline on both sides and finish

I’m knitting a men’s sweater in stockinette stitch. I’m working on the front, and the pattern says: for the neckline
bind off the middle 18 sts, and on either side of them, to shape the neckline, bind off 2 sts
twice and 1 st once in every second row.
So I start with knit stitches, bind off in the middle, and finish this row. Turn, purl to the
neckline, turn, and bind off in the row with knit stitches. Is that right???
But how do I handle the right front? I would finish the row in purl, turn, knit 1 row,
turn, and always decrease on the purl row????
I’d really appreciate some help and feedback. It’s been going so well so far. My brain’s all tied
up in knots.

No, just decrease on the right side row—that is, the knit stitches—or however you find it easier.

The most important thing is to decrease on both sides starting from the center.
