Scarf curls in at the sides, nothing helps...

Hello everyone,

I've tried 4 different methods (with stockinette stitch) on a scarf

- 4 edge stitches in garter stitch: curls in
- knit 2, purl 2: curls in
- chain edge: folds in (all 4 flip to the back)
- 4 seed stitches: folds in
What else can I try, please?

I don't want to steam it, otherwise it'll end up flat. I tried that on a swatch.
As far as I know, the only thing left is washing and pinning it, but the scarf isn't
finished yet, and I'm really looking for a solution that lasts.

Does anyone have a good tip?

Stockinette stitch usually curls, and there’s almost nothing you can do about it. 
Have you already tried a patent edge? 
You can see how it’s done here.
I knitted it on my Meril scarf, and it hardly curls at all.

Meril has a lovely pattern; like peacock eyes ;-)

I'm seriously considering whether I should unravel the scarf again;
despite the pattern, tricky yarn, and countless hours...
I think I'll do it. After all, I want to enjoy it for hours
and for years :-)
