Weaving in yarn ends

Hi everyone, I crocheted the “mille Bacci” baby blanket, using 1 base color and 18 different bright colors, all repeated 3 times in total. So now I have a lot of yarn ends that need to be worked in very neatly. Can anyone give me some advice? It’s kind of urgent, though, since the baby is almost here.

Thanks in advance for any help
Erika

Hi Erika,
Instead of letting all the yarn ends hang out to weave in the ends later, you can crochet them right in and cut them off.
When changing colors, knot the ends and wrap them around the next stitches you’ll be working into, so they’re tucked away.
Best wishes,
Tanja

Hi Erika,

the only “solution” is to weave in the ends in the traditional way.
If the blanket has a back side, weave in the ends on that side. If there are “two right sides,” then decide which side to weave in the ends on, because it definitely looks nicer when they’re all woven in on just one side.
Use a suitable darning or embroidery needle with a rounded tip and pull the threads through a few (about 5–7) stitches of a matching color. Loop the thread around an inner stitch at this point as invisibly as possible, and sew back a few stitches toward the beginning. There, loop the thread around a stitch as invisibly as possible and work back in the other direction. Trim the thread close.

Best regards, Nina

I would probably hem the blanket with a rolled hem.

First, tie all the ends securely so nothing comes undone. Then pick up stitches all around the edge. When you get back to the beginning, turn the blanket over and work 6–7 rows of knit stitches. Then bind off.

The hem will already be rolling in the right direction and just needs to be sewn on. You can hide all the knots and loose ends underneath, and the blanket will look perfect from both sides.

Thank you for your help. When I'm finished, I'll try to post a photo.

Wishing you all a good time

Erika
