Wool blanket...

Knitted diagonally, it measures 175 cm x 175 cm, so it’s big enough to snuggle up in if you ever get a little chilly.
I started working on the blanket on January 7, 2023, and today, March 7, 2023,
it was finished—exactly 2 months. I knitted every day
for between 2 and 4 hours, depending on how long I spent in front of the
TV in the evening [image removed]

Best regards, Inge

Inge, it turned out absolutely beautiful!
And it’s admirable that you stuck with it—with a project this big, I’d definitely have 5–8 side projects going just to do something different 🫣😂

Wow, Inge, that’s a great piece! And huge!! But it’s the perfect project to knit on the side without having to think too much about it.

For me, too, I have to work on at least two projects at the same time.

What a labor-of-love project. You’ve knitted yourself a very beautiful blanket in just two months. And the size is really impressive—you can get cozy under it. I find big projects like this, where you don’t have to think and just let your fingers do the work, very relaxing. Now you have a gap—those 2 to 4 hours in the evening with nothing in your hands... well, let’s see how long that lasts.

I can’t watch TV without some kind of craft project anymore. Something would just be missing. Personally, I could do without the TV shows more easily than without my crafts. But both together are perfect.

Best regards, Ina

Thanks for the compliments :-)
But I wasn’t just working on the blanket—during the day, as I often do, I was at my sewing machine or sewing teddy bears by hand, so all in all, it was always a nice change of pace. I still have some leftover yarn in my box for a few small teddy bears, so it’s not like I’m completely out of it—I’ll make sure to stock up on more yarn.
But tomorrow I’m going to buy some blouse fabric first, because I have a great blouse pattern lying around :-). We’ll see—if I spot a yarn shop anywhere in Schweinfurt, I’ll pop in. My daughter’s coming along, and she’s even less likely to pass up a yarn shop than I am :-)

Love, Inge

Wow Inge, what a labor of love, and in just 2 months.
It really makes you want to snuggle up in it, and it looks very beautiful too.
Have fun and good luck shopping tomorrow.
Kind regards
Marina

What an amazing piece!
It looks so inviting, and I really like the colors.

Tell me, how do you get so many stitches on the needles? Is that a
particularly long circular needle? It must be heavy, weight-wise......

Best regards,
Karola

No, it’s not—I used needles with a 1.20m-long cable, so you don’t really notice the weight at all. On the contrary, it was always quite warm on my legs—I might actually miss that a little ;-) :-)

I think the colors are great, too. And those are two skeins? Is that red one a large skein as well?

Do you just keep knitting as long as there’s room for stitches on the cable? Or do you go by how much yarn you’ve used? Or do you count when you reach the middle?

Neither—I measure the side length, and once I have that, I start decreasing, because I never counted the stitches. I just know that before I started decreasing, I was knitting one row for about 15 minutes 🤣

Dear Inge, your blanket turned out great🎉. The pillow complements it beautifully, too. It looks really cozy. Would you mind sharing how much yarn you used and what needle size you worked with? Thanks🐑
Best regards from Anja

A total of 1,000 grams of yarn went into the blanket and pillow—about 100 grams of the red yarn. I knitted with 5.5 mm needles, because unfortunately I can’t really use thinner needles anymore—my hands give out (osteoarthritis)

Best regards, Inge
