Crocheting the knit stitch

Dear users, dear designers,
would you like to share something about the crocheted knit stitch? 

The crochet knit stitch consists of single crochet stitches, but instead of inserting the hook into the top loops, you insert it into the “V” below the stitch. This causes the stitches to lie exactly on top of one another, which is advantageous if you want to crochet a pattern based on a pixel image.
The crochet knit stitch is a very tight, sturdy stitch and is particularly well-suited for baskets or similar items. 

Is that similar to tapestry crochet, then?

Yes, the knit stitch works great in combination with tapestry crochet. In the tapestry technique, the thread of the color you’re not crocheting with is carried along and crocheted around. You can do the same with the knit stitch.
However, the knit stitch can also be used in solid-color projects.
