Twisted yarn

Should I fix this?

I hope you can make it out. That one stitch in the middle, 4 rows from the top. It’s knitted correctly, but the yarn is twisting a bit. I think the yarn is twisted too much. Will it straighten out on its own?

Maybe let the stitch drop and pick it back up again.

Or dampen the area a little and try to get the stitch to look nice.

Thanks for the quick help. I let the stitches fall and reknit them. The yarn still twists strangely, but it’s no longer visible. If I look closely, I’m sure I’ll find more.
Would something like this bother you? It looks messy. It’s sheep’s wool, which is a bit irregular in thickness anyway.

If there are irregularities like this all over the sweater or in the yarn, then that’s just part of it. Have you knitted with this yarn before?

Maybe it’ll even out after the first wash and the stitch pattern will look neat.

No, this is my first time using it. I’ll keep an eye on it when I wash it. I’m curious to see if it makes a difference.

Well, if it’s 100% pure “sheep’s wool,” then it shouldn’t be that noticeable after washing. Usually, the yarn “blooms” when washed. I’d knit a gauge swatch and then wash it to see how the wool behaves....

The label says 92% wool, 8% acrylic. I don’t know much about wool yet. It’s not high-quality virgin wool, but it should still be sheep’s wool. It wasn’t cheap, though.

So this is a “commercial” yarn? Not hand-spun or anything like that? If so, I don’t think that should happen! Neither the “twisting” nor the uneven thickness... With pure new wool, that can happen because there’s often a residue of spinning oil left in it, but that washes out, and the stitch pattern ends up looking smooth and even.

It’s industrial yarn. The manufacturer has been in business for 40 years, and it’s a well-known brand. Basically, I’m quite happy with the yarn—it’s nice and warm, soft, and comes in very pretty colors. The yarn has this little quirk, but oh well.

I asked the tech support team if there’s anything that can be done about missing smileys, but it might take a while.
