Today I’ll show you what you can create with a crochet hook using leftover gradient yarn.
I still had some leftover Jawoll Magic Degradé sock yarn in my stash. This is what came out of it:

I crocheted the
egg cozy "Autumn Leaves with cotton yarn (Catania by Schachenmayr), but for the autumn leaves I used leftovers of the sock yarn. The gentle color gradient makes the leaves look so realistic: they look almost real.

Some of the fruit from the
colorful fruit crate was crocheted with the same gradient yarn:

the apples,

the pears,

the peach,

the kiwi,

the (green) grapes.
This creates that realistic effect again, and the fruit is hard to tell apart from real fruit.
And here’s another example of what you can crochet with a leftover gradient cake yarn:

For
Octopus Oskar I had about 70 g of a 4-ply gradient cake yarn from light blue to white left over. I used the light blue part for the body and the outsides of the tentacles, and the white part for the insides of the tentacles.
