Who’s participating in the contest?

I already asked over in the thread who’s going
to write which pattern, but I’d still like to know who’s actually going
to participate. Could you give me a quick heads-up, please?
That would be really nice—I’d love to know how many people have already caught the contest fever.

I’m planning to make at least two: knitted booties and a pincushion. Let’s see if I can manage both...

I’m currently trying my hand at the pincushion, even though I’ve never worked with such a small crochet hook before!!! But I’m doing my best!!! I only found out about it at lunchtime today and then quickly went shopping while I’m on vacation!!!

Are you all sitting at home right now, working on your crafts, busy getting ready for the contest?
I’m really excited and super curious. :)

I’m really excited, too :-) There were a lot of downloads overall—now we’ll see how many people actually downloaded them for the contest . . .

I think you should have put up some kind of banner for the contest on the homepage—maybe in the top right corner where the “3 free items” are advertised. Since it’s still running for about two weeks and the patterns are now paid content, it probably won’t make much of a difference at this point.
You’ve put in so much effort, invested so much time, and then made the patterns available for free. That deserved a little more promotion.
Maybe for the future: First build up some anticipation and promote the contest. If people are curious and have to wait a bit, you could maybe introduce the projects a little bit in the meantime, share the materials list, start a countdown... etc., etc. BUT always in a spot on the homepage and on Facebook that’s visible to everyone. Not many people see it here in the forum, and that’s such a shame.
But let’s stay optimistic!! Go ahead and expand the server capacity, since sooo many photos will be uploaded for the contest ;)

@ursulapetra
Did you keep an eye on the download numbers for the patterns over the weekend? I did, and quite a lot happened there. And on the pattern pages, you can also see how often each page was clicked. (on the right side of the page, just above Sales/Downloads) and there were tons of clicks. Quite a lot of people definitely noticed it.
Just because not everyone liked or commented on the contest posts on Facebook, or said something in the forum, that certainly doesn’t mean that no one noticed the contest and the sellers who invested effort and time in it. That was not the case, not at all.

As for the next two weeks
we will make sure that the topic stays visible.

As for a possible future contest, we will certainly learn from the experiences of this contest and continue to develop from there.

But at this point I would like to explicitly thank Operator Alexander for spontaneously taking up the idea of the contest and making it possible. The sellers who provided patterns have been thanked in detail in a blog post and in various forum threads, but so far no one has thanked the Operator for making the contest possible despite the short lead time and having the flu. That’s a real shame.

I just hope it’s a success! The authors of the patterns really deserve it. I’m always a little pessimistic about this, because on every other website, news, updates, or announcements are ALWAYS on the homepage.
That was just meant to be a suggestion.
With that in mind, have fun!
I’ve already uploaded my entry, and I’m happy with how it turned out.
Best regards, Petra

I hope all participants have lots and lots of fun.
Unfortunately, I won’t be taking part, since I’m currently launching my very first crochet contest. It’s taking up a lot of time...
Oh well. Maybe next time :-)

Hi :-)

Would you like to share a little more?

Best regards

Hello Alexander,

first of all: I’m fairly active in several FB forums about crochet, amigurumi, etc.

I’ve also set myself two goals for this year:
1. to design one new animal per week on average
2. to organize one campaign per month via my FB “fan page.”

This month’s campaign is: Crochet contest.

It is planned as follows:
Next Monday (March 17), I will send the pattern for an animal that will remain unknown until Sunday (March 16) to all participants free of charge. It’s a completely new animal—so not a recycling of one of my old animals. The animal is de facto still unknown, since so far it doesn’t even exist on paper. So it will be a surprise for all participants—and somehow for me, too.
The participants will then have about 2 weeks (until March 30) to crochet their animal. There are no limits to their creativity. They can vary it until the yarn bursts or the hook starts smoking. By March 30, each participant should then send a picture of their animal (as I said: one picture—not a whole photo album) to streifgetier@web.de. I will then publish the photos in a folder created especially for this on https://www.facebook.com/streifgetier. After that, I will send the participant the link to their picture.
Then each participant has until April 7 at 6:00 PM to drum up support for themselves and their work. How and where they do that—I don’t care :-) The little animal that has the most “likes” on April 7 at 6:00 PM wins :-)

Of course there is also something to win. For one thing, everyone is somehow a winner because they get to call a new little animal their own :-) But of course there are also “real” prizes
1st prize: 3 patterns of your choice
2nd prize: 2 patterns of your choice
3rd prize: 1 pattern of your choice
The patterns can then be chosen from my pool—that is, streifgetier’s pool.

That’s my crochet contest in a nutshell.

I’ve been carrying this idea around for a while, and now I wanted to tackle it. I actually wanted to do it a bit earlier—but someone else beat me to it, and I didn’t want to be in “competition” with another contest. :-)

Best regards,
Petra

I did say I’d give it a try!!! And well, I failed!!! I also tried it with the help of the designer and got such kind help, and I have to say I’m incredibly grateful!!! For the help!!! But still, as a beginner, I failed!!! But it’s a great idea!!! Keep it up!!! Thanks to nksdesign!!! And to everyone else!!!
