Schopper socks = leg warmers?

Dear users, dear authors,
Are Schopper socks a cross between socks and leg warmers?
Or are Schopper socks just decorative?

I suspect they’re a mix of warm socks and leg warmers, so definitely not just decoration. If I wore Schoppersocken, that would solve the problem of socks slipping down and leg warmers riding up. I often find it uncomfortable when that happens. 

At the moment I only wear the two separately; I love leg warmers. I definitely don’t have any Schoppersocken yet, because I don’t like knitting the heel of socks.

I haven’t crocheted any socks yet—I’ve only ever knitted them (mostly without a heel, though). I have to say, these shopping socks look absolutely lovely. Crocheted with double yarn, they’re sure to be super warm, too. I’ve added them to my wish list.
