Dreamcatchers and Mandalas

do you like dreamcatchers and mandalas?

Yes, dear Josefa, I really like mandalas a lot. Even as a child, I loved coloring them—the bright colors and the uniform patterns that grow from the center outward.

When I was a child, I once received a “mandala designer” as a Christmas gift. It was a square plastic frame with little teeth along the inside edge. It came with lots of round stencils with holes in them. You’d place a round stencil in the square frame and insert a pencil into one of the small holes. Then you’d rotate the stencil along the little teeth, and the pencil would automatically draw lines that always overlapped slightly, creating a little mandala.

Even as an adult, I still love mandalas. Just the other day, I was looking for some fabric to sew a wind and sunshade for my grandchildren’s playhouse. And I chose a huge mandala. So I still like them. Some preferences never fade.
