Dear users, dear authors,
flared pants are apparently _the_ fall trend of the year. Do you like flared pants?

For me and my short legs, flared pants are absolutely not my thing.

I’m past that phase now :-)

Back when I was in vocational training—it must have been around this time of year—I thought they were great. Then they came back into style, and even back then I stopped wearing them. And now? No, not for me—but if others want to wear them, that’s fine.

I’m just happy if I can find a pair of pants that actually fit me.

I’m short. And I’ve gained weight since having surgery a few years ago.

Kind regards, Gabi

Oh yeah, Gabi—I know that problem all too well.
What’s too much at the bottom of your legs is missing at the top of your belly.

Yes, I love flared pants too—I’ve always loved them. I actually still have a pair in my closet that even fits me again. Great—I’m so happy! Although… I always wear what I like and what’s comfortable, no matter what fashion trends might dictate is “in” right now.

Flared pants are always in style for me. I still have a few pairs and really enjoy wearing them.

I figure that whatever I like to wear is “my style.” It’s just like art—opinions are often divided on that, too.

When the legs flare out at the bottom, it flatters your figure. What I really don’t like are those pants that are tight at the bottom—that just doesn’t work for me. But I really like pants with a bit of a flare. They actually look pretty stylish. BUT, of course, you have to be the right size and have the right figure for them. If everything looked good on everyone, it would be boring. So everyone should wear what they like and what they think looks good. Fashion just has to keep reinventing itself or bringing back old styles and sprucing them up.

Way back in the ’70s, though, the flares on pants were always really wide. I didn’t like that so much because when I walked, the pant legs would always flip to the left or right. That’s why I prefer the more moderate version.

Best regards, Ina

I’ve always liked flares, too. Well, back in the day they were extremely wide—we’d even unpick the seams on the legs and sew in gussets to make them even wider. I don’t need to do that anymore, but I still prefer a slightly flared cut to skinny jeans. It also looks better unless you happen to be related to Twiggy....

Yes, fashion does come full circle. Just like so many other things in life. Back then, gussets were sewn into the pant legs from the knee down so people wouldn’t have to throw away their tighter pants. I thought it looked chic.
