Dear users, dear authors,
can clothing be made from microfiber?

Yes, microfibers cover a wide range. It’s a general term for particularly thin synthetic fibers. They’re often made of polyester, acrylic, etc., but there are also types derived from wood. Cleaning cloths or bedding might be the first things that come to mind, but a wide variety of fabrics can be made from them—for example, performance sports fabrics, satin, and faux suede... Accordingly, the intended use and material should always be specified as precisely as possible.

I definitely prefer viscose to microfiber—it isn’t loaded with polyester and other synthetic materials, making it more breathable than microfiber.
Viscose is a *natural fiber* derived from wood—or rather, from its cellulose—and is a semi-synthetic fiber, unlike microfiber, which consists of 100% polyester and is therefore hardly breathable at all—it’s like a sauna against your skin.

Best regards, Inge

I haven't liked microfiber clothing for a long time now. I feel very uncomfortable in it. It traps heat—at least for me—and when I put it on or take it off, I'm full of static electricity.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been allergic to anything with “poly” in it, and I always thought that was really annoying, because the trendiest and chicest clothes that everyone else had were always made of synthetic fibers, while I was stuck wearing boring cotton.
I’ve gotten used to it by now, but even today, there’s still a more limited selection of natural fibers than there is of “poly-something.”
I used to really hope that microfiber would come up with something I could tolerate. But reading about your experiences, it seems I haven’t missed out on anything at all.

Well, as Notnadel already mentioned, that’s a broad topic. It really depends on the quality. Fabrics made from high-quality microfiber are in a league of their own compared to regular polyester. They’re also breathable.
I like wearing it because it’s easy to care for, comfortable to wear, and doesn’t wrinkle or lose its shape. I also have some nice no-iron bedding that I’m very happy with.
